FRIEZEING

Lula wears MOSCHINO dress, VAN CLEEF&ARPELS jewels
Last Friday I spent the whole day at London FRIEZE Art Fair. The best was Regent Park, glorious in shades of browns, yellows, oranges… But, here’s 12 things I liked inside.

Thomas Kiesewetter sculptures, especially their title: Venus.

Raqib Shaw round drawing: a bit because I love him, a bit because his drawings on paper are his best, a bit for the round frame.

Julien Opie’s mosaic, Pompei circa 2012, and amazingly painted head sculpture challenging those of the Roman’d Cicero and Catus.

Jonas Wood primitive yet ambitious take on the portrayal of Classic Art.

Alan Charton Triangle Paintings, because it wasn’t about the paint but only about the triangles.

Sarah Lucas’ Mumum because it looked undefinable and great.

Gaving Turk Seeing Eye.

Dough Aitken installation because made me go “Oh, No!” without being upset.

Thomas Demand “In This Together” because letters were really together.
And then this nameless two:

Snow White imprisoned apple

and Aurora’s (Sleeping beauty) canvas of fear: only beautiful thorns and no sign of roses!
Moral of the tale?
Art pinches.
